National Mental Health Supports

 

988 Suicide & Crisis  Lifeline: Crisis workers are available 24/7. Information shared is confidential and the call goes to the nearest crisis center in the Lifeline national network. These centers provide crisis counseling and mental health referrals. 

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (1-888-333-2377): Provides referrals to support groups, mental health professionals, resources on loss and suicide prevention information. 

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Treatment Referral Helpline--1-800-662-HELP (4357: Provides general information on mental health referrals to treatment services in the person's area. Alternatively the person can locate treatment resources in their area by using the SAMHSA Behavioral Health Treatment Services Locator. 

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): NAMI is a grassroots advocacy group. The NAMI HELPLINE can be reached at 800-950-6264 or texting NAMI to 741741. A local NAMI group can be located via their website. 

Mental Health America: MHA is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and to promoting the overall mental health of all Americans. Locations can be search via the website. 

Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD): Provides information and referrals on ADHD, including local support groups. Phone: 800-233-4050

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA)Provides information on bipolar disorder and depression, offers in-person and online support groups and forums. Phone: 1-800-826-3632
