Borrow and Renew

Rudisill Library strives for circulation policies that ensure equitable access to resources for all campus users. Please contact Caryn Sumic 828.328.7991 for clarification of any information presented below:

  • Students, faculty, staff, and alumni must present their Lenoir-Rhyne IDs to borrow materials
  • Materials may be renewed if not requested by another person
  • Holds may be placed or recalls requested on checked-out materials by contacting the Circulation desk
  • Recalled materials may acquire an earlier due date; fines will accrue after the new due date
  • Students are responsible for the safe and timely return of materials
  • Fines and other fees are imposed to help ensure the integrity of the collection for all users
  • Upon graduation students immediately become alumni and may continue to use Rudisill Library if they register at the library. Once registered, alumni may check out up to 3 library books and/or media items for the established circulation period. Alumni may also access the library’s electronic resources on-site by signing in at the circulation desk. Licensing restrictions do not permit access to these resources outside of the library facility.

Procedures and Accountability

You may receive reminders and overdue notices via email, but you are responsible for returning materials on time regardless of whether you received and read a notice. When fines accumulate to $5.00, circulation privileges are suspended until the amount is reduced or resolved. If materials are not returned, you will be billed for replacement of the item, a $10 billing fee, a $15 processing fee, as well as for all accumulated fines.

Please contact Caryn Sumic immediately to report lost or damaged materials, so that fines will not continue to accrue. At that time, arrangement for the replacement of the lost or damaged materials can be made. If lost materials are returned in good condition after the replacement billing, the replacement cost will be refunded to your student account.
