Borrow and Renew

Rudisill Library strives for circulation policies that ensure equitable access to resources for all campus users. Please contact Caryn Sumic 828.328.7991 for clarification of any information presented below:

Types of Borrowers

  • Students, faculty, staff, and alumni must present their Lenoir-Rhyne IDs to borrow materials.
  • Students may borrow up to 50 items.
  • With the exception of reserve materials, all books circulate for 28 days or the end of the semester.
  • Materials may be renewed if not requested by another person.
  • Holds may be placed on checked-out materials by contacting the Circulation desk.
  • Students are responsible for the safe and timely return of materials.
  • Overdue notices are sent via email. The library no longer charges overdue fines.  However, accounts are blocked if there are more than 2 overdue items. If materials are not returned, students are billed at the end of the semester for replacement of the item plus a $10 processing fee. 
  • Upon graduation students immediately become alumni and may continue to check out material after registering at the library. Once registered, alumni may check out up to 3 library  items for the established circulation period.
  • Students, faculty, staff, and alumni must present their Lenoir-Rhyne IDs to borrow materials.
  • Faculty and staff may borrow up to 100 items.
  • With the exception of reserve materials, all books circulate for the semester.
  • Materials may be renewed if not requested by another person.
  • Holds may be placed on checked-out materials by contacting the Circulation desk.
  • Faculty and staff are responsible for the safe and timely return of materials at the end of each semester.
  • A Courtesy Borrower is one who is 18 years of age or older and has a library card from Hickory Public or Catawba County library systems and completes the library's registration process.
  •  Courtesy Borrowers can register Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM by presenting a library card from Hickory Public or Catawba County library system and a current photo ID.
  • Students from UCHS can register by presenting a current school ID.
  • Courtesy Borrowers may check out up to 5 items from the main circulating collection.  
  • All items circulate for 28 days or the end of the semester.
  • Borrowers are responsible for the safe and timely return of materials.

If materials are not returned, borrowers are billed for replacement of the item plus a $10 processing fee and loose borrowing privileges until paid.
