Get Writing Help!

Email an Asheville librarian from your LR email account to set up a 30-minute consultation or contact The Writing Center at the Hickory campus.

The Writing Center helps students:

  • understand written assignment
  • get started with a writing assignment
  • develop and organize ideas
  • with style, voice, grammar, and punctuation
  • become a better editor and proofreader

The Writing Center does not write or rewrite student papers, proofread without student participation or suggest grades.

Speech Preparation Lab

If you're nervous about speaking in public, or just need an extra eye to offer opinions, the Speech Preparation Lab is there for you. Our staff of friendly and experienced tutors can help with all aspects of public speaking: from finding a topic, to organizing research material, to effective presentation, as well as exercises and strategies to feel relaxed and look confident. You can also videotape your speech on our HD camera, so you can see yourself speaking, and even receive notes from our tutors directly on your video. We offer assistance with assignments at all class levels and in all disciplines, as well as help with presentations for other LR activities, such as student organizations and conferences.

We look forward to hearing what you have to say!

Get Counseling

Individual and couples counseling (as long as both individuals in the couple are students) is available to all current Lenoir-Rhyne University undergraduate & graduate students. Counseling center staff and interns can work with students on a wide variety of issues.  Face to face counseling services are available on the Hickory campus and face to face and teletherapy are available to students on the Asheville and Columbia campuses.  All you have to do is contact one of our counseling center staff to set up an appointment.

The Career Center

We assist students in maximizing their potential for career and professional success - both in college and beyond! Come visit our new center on the second floor of the Library in the Learning Commons. You can set up an individual appointment for career research, resume review, choosing the right major and planning for post-graduation.
