In response to public health and safety concerns and, as recommended by the American Library Association, Rudisill Library will be closed, starting March 19. Library services will be provided virtually but with no provision of services on-site, including circulation of print materials, media materials or technology. Most Learning Commons services and programs will be providing some virtual service (details coming soon). Limited in-person access to the Center for Teaching and Learning may be available by appointment with CTL.
E-books, Online Articles, and Streaming
Rudisill Library will continue to provide access, 24/7, to our 680 million-item virtual collections—e-books, articles, streaming video and audio, transcripts and more— accessible through the Summon Discovery Tool. We will continue to provide access to all 182 library databases and e-collections - http://libguides.lr.edu/az.php - as well as access to virtual content by subject or discipline - http://libguides.lr.edu/?b=s.
While there will be no access to print or other physical materials through Interlibrary Loan, we will process requests for digital materials, like articles or book chapters. Please note, there may be delays due to other library closures nationwide.
Library materials may be returned to the “Book Depository” book drop, located to the left of the Rudisill Library main entrance. Students who are no longer on campus can return materials in September when they arrive for the fall semester. If you are not planning to return to campus in the fall, you can mail us returns at Rudisill Library, 625 7th Ave NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
Overdue fines and recalls are now suspended. Please be aware that if items are not returned in September that you may be charged an item replacement fee.
Please note: LRU Campus updates on the Coronavirus are available here.
